Two Speed Racers were no match for deputies after attempting to turn Kings Highway into a NASCAR track.

On March 4th, at approximately 10:25 p.m. Deputy D.S. Jett was traveling Eastbound on Kings Highway near Enola Road. While driving, Deputy Jett observed two Hot Wheels traveling 83 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. Deputy Jett quickly turned around to give chase to the two racing riders.

When it comes to racing vehicles, one might think of fast cars like a Challenger or Corvette. Not this time. The two racing Honda Civics continued towards Cool Springs Road. Deputy Jett was able to conduct a traffic stop on one Civic on Kings Highway as the other traveled onto Cool Springs Road. Little did the driver know First Sergeant D.F. Purcell was already on Cool Springs Road waiting for him. First Sergeant Purcell conducted a traffic stop of the second Civic at the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

It was discovered the drivers did not know each other, but decided to see who would win the Stafford Grand Prix. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office was the clear victor; however, both drivers received consolation prizes. Each won a charge of reckless driving and racing. They were released on their summonses and left at an appropriate speed.

Drive Safe Stafford.
