McGruff is known for taking a bite out of crime; however, a wanted Mineral woman attempted to take a bite out of an officer.

On February 21st at approximately 9:57 p.m. deputies responded to Garrison Woods Drive in attempt to locate a wanted suspect. The suspect, Savannah Emigh, 22, was wanted out of Stafford County for a capias that had underlying charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and prostitution.

When deputies arrived on scene, they were able to identify Emigh within a group of individuals due to her unique face tattoos. If that was not proof enough, deputies called her name and she responded. When she noticed it was law enforcement however, she changed her answer advising she wasn’t the wanted woman they were looking for.

This Jedi mind trick was ineffective and deputies attempted to place her in handcuffs. Emigh started to resist and even bit a deputy on the arm. The assault didn’t stop deputies from taking her into custody, but it did have an effect on her growing list of charges.

Emigh was served on her outstanding warrant, as well as, earned a charge for obstruction of justice and assault and battery on law enforcement. Emigh later apologized for the bite, advising she “panicked”. Emigh was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. The deputy was not seriously injured by the bite.
