A wanted Buena Vista man’s plan to trick the courts backfired yesterday resulting in a prolonged stay at Rappahannock Regional Jail.

On February 2nd at approximately 9:05 a.m. General District Court was in session. Deputy R.W. Stamm Jr. was working security when the judge called the case of Eric Holloman, 31. Holloman was wanted out of Texas and was supposed to self-surrender before reporting back to General District Court. A man who identified himself as “the executor” was there to speak on Holloman’s behalf. It was the Commonwealth Attorney’s belief that the executor was in fact the wanted individual and informed the judge.

The executor was sworn in and further advised he was not Holloman, yet would not provide his real name. That is when the judge decided to issue a capias for Holloman. After hearing this information, the unknown executor coincidentally left rather abruptly. Due to there being reasonable suspicion Holloman and this individual were one in the same, Deputy Stamm attempted to identify the man leaving. The individual did not like that idea and began running out of the courthouse.

Deputy Stamm and Deputy S.R. Efimenco engaged in a foot pursuit. As many of you know, foot pursuits do not last long in Stafford and deputies were able to take the fleeing individual into custody. In an unsurprising turn of events, the individual was confirmed to be Holloman.

Holloman was served on his freshly printed capias, as well as, earned new warrants for contempt of court, perjury, and fleeing law enforcement. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
