The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud case after a resident reported an unauthorized account with Direct Energy in Texas.

On January 23rd Deputy C.J. Sacke handled a phone complaint from a Stafford County resident. The victim reported he received a notice of collections for $1,523 from Direct Energy, related to an electric bill for a home in Texas.

The victim had no affiliation to the Texas residence and law enforcement will be attempting to identify this joule thief. You can almost see the “shocked” face in this electrical outlet.
