If you have ever played Mario Kart on Nintendo and witnessed a kart hit a banana peel and crash, it is the perfect illustration of a suspect’s crash this morning in a failed eluding attempt.

On January 22nd at 2:34 a.m. Sergeant K.P. Lytle, Jr. witnessed a white Nissan 370Z disregard a stop sign at Courthouse Road and Wyche Road. As the driver turned onto Red Oak Drive, Sgt. Lytle activated his emergency lights.

Instead of stopping, the suspect accelerated over the double yellow lines to pass a slower moving vehicle. During the acceleration, the suspect lost control and did a 360 degree counter clockwise spin in the roadway, jumped the curb and came to rest in the wood line.

All airbags deployed in the Nissan and other than pride, the suspect was not injured. He was subsequently arrested for reckless driving and eluding. The magistrate released the 21-year-old male suspect on an unsecured bond.
