A Stafford woman was arrested for several offenses yesterday after a hit and run accident in South Stafford.

On October 15th at 2:20 a.m. Deputy D.S. Jett observed an ambulance stopped near Brooks Park on Butler Road. Medics had noticed debris in the roadway and were removing the debris. The evidence at the scene painted a picture of a vehicle leaving the roadway, driving up the embankment and striking a wooden fence. The vehicle proceeded to back down from the accident scene to the roadway and fled the scene. In addition to the fence debris, the suspect left behind a crucial piece of evidence…their front bumper with the license plate attached.

Deputies responded to the address of the registered owner and located the damaged vehicle. The driver was identified as Kelly Grimes, 28. Grimes had glassy eyes and was unsteady on her feet. Field sobriety tests were offered and she was arrested.

Grimes was charged with DUI, hit and run, obstruction and refusal. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over!
