A King George County man was arrested for DUI Saturday night after a deputy heard him approaching on a shredded tire.

On October 8th at 9:50 p.m. Deputy A.J. Deasy was in the 200 block of Butler Road when he heard a strange noise. He soon discovered the noise was an approaching Chevy sedan with a shredded front tire, maneuvering along the roadway on a rim.

A traffic stop was conducted at 50 White Oak Road and the driver was identified as William Benson, 61. Benson had glassy, bloodshot eyes and an open container of liquor in the vehicle.

Benson was arrested and charged with DUI with a blood alcohol content over .20 and drinking while driving. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
