A Stafford woman and Falls Church man started the week off in jail after deputies detained both for DUI.

On October 2nd, at approximately 2:26 a.m., Deputy J.D. Hurt was traveling on I-95 south near the 142 mile marker when he observed two vehicles failing to properly maintain the lane of travel and almost cause a crash. Deputy Hurt initiated a traffic stop on one of the vehicles and radioed nearby deputies for the other. Sergeant K.P. Lytle was able to locate the second vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Deputy Hurt made contact with the driver of the first vehicle, Roqiel Smith, 33. She had slurred speech and admitted to consuming alcohol. Smith was arrested as an inventory search on her vehicle was conducted. Deputies located a bottle of tequila and a firearm within her hand bag. Smith not only did not have a concealed carry license, but also lacked a driver’s license.

Sergeant Lytle made contact with the driver of the second vehicle, Rolando Joel Gonzalez Reyes, 41. Reyes had bloodshot eyes and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. While conversing with Reyes, it was discovered he had active warrants in both Fairfax and Prince William County, one of which was related to a previous DUI charge. Reyes also did not have a driver’s license.

Smith was charged with driving under the influence second offense in five years, driving without a license, carrying a concealed weapon, and the traffic lane violation. Reyes was charged with driving under the influence second offense in five years, driving without a license, the traffic lane violation, and served on his outstanding warrants. Smith was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $7500 secured bond; whereas, Reyes was held without bond.
