A Walmart employee was charged with several offenses after he allegedly stole and used a customer’s credit card on Sunday afternoon. Thank you to Walmart Loss Prevention for their assistance in this case.

On June 19th at 12:54 p.m. Deputy D.R. Ludolph responded to the Walmart at 125 Washington Square Plaza for a fraud. The victim reported she used the self-checkout of the store and took her purchases to her car. In less than an hour, she received notifications of a fraud alert on her credit cards at the same Walmart and discovered her wallet missing.

Deputy Ludolph reviewed surveillance video in the store and observed the victim leave her wallet in a shopping bag at the self-checkout. Another customer found the wallet and turned it over to a store employee identified as Henry Rogers IV, 36, of Spotsylvania.

Surveillance video also showed Rogers remove credit cards from the wallet and use them to attempt to purchase gift cards at a self-checkout, in the amount of the victim’s fraud notification.

Deputy Ludolph obtained warrants for credit card theft, false pretenses, and identity fraud. Rogers left work early, so he could not serve the warrants that day. Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office located Rogers this morning and turned him over to Stafford deputies. Rogers was served the warrants and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 bond.
