A Charlottesville woman’s freedom was short-lived after she assaulted a jail employee as she was released from the jail.

On June 15th at 12:40 a.m. Deputy S. Waheed responded to the Rappahannock Regional Jail for an assault. He located Nicole Dean, 37, walking along the shoulder of U.S. 1 near the jail and detained her. Another deputy responded to the jail to speak with staff.

The investigation revealed as Dean was released from the jail, she slammed a drawer on a property clerk’s hand causing a minor injury. Dean also ripped an attached ink pen from the desk.

Dean was arrested and charged with assault and vandalism and returned to the custody of the jail, this time without bond. Her previous charge was a public intoxication on June 14th at the Best Western Aquia.
