We are a little late with this release, but the offender was also a little late to court. A Fredericksburg woman remains in jail after being arrested for several offenses in Stafford County last week after a hit and run accident.

On April 27th at 1:48 p.m. Deputy R.A. Weatherholtz was headed toward a hit and run accident near the Rappahannock Regional Jail. A witness reported a silver Honda Accord had just struck two vehicles and fled the scene northbound on U.S. 1. Deputy Weatherholtz was in the right place at the right time, as the offender sped past him and he initiated a traffic stop in the Stafford County Courthouse parking lot.

The driver was identified as Britney Hilton, 30. Hilton explained to the deputy she was on her way to court for a 1:00 p.m. case. Deputy Weatherholtz explained she was already nearly an hour late and began to investigate the hit and run.

Deputy Weatherholtz determined Hilton was driving under the influence and placed her under arrest. There was a child in the vehicle who was turned over to a family member. Additionally, a suspected controlled substance was found on Hilton and in the vehicle.

Hilton was ultimately charged with DUI second in five years, two counts of hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, obstruction, refusal, and child neglect. She was served an additional Capias from the General District Court for missing her 1:00 p.m. court date. Hilton continues to be held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
