Anyone else tired of seeing the DUI arrest reports? We certainly are. There are plenty of options available for a sober ride home. Drive sober or get pulled over.

On March 6th at midnight, Deputy J.D. Hurt heard a “Be On the Lookout” from our Emergency Communications Center for a vehicle travelling below the speed limit on I-95 with a flat tire.

Deputy Hurt was assisting another deputy on a traffic stop at I-95 and Garrisonville Road and could hear the vehicle approaching, leaving a shower of sparks in it’s wake. A traffic stop was conducted at the nearby Mine Road 7-Eleven and the driver was identified as Michael Bellanca, 39, of Stafford.

Deputy Hurt noticed Bellanca had bloodshot, glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. Bellanca was attempting to get to the Walmart to drop off the car for a new tire. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Bellanca was arrested. He was charged with DUI and held until sober at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
