UPDATE: Keyvon Smith has been apprehended in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He is being extradited to Stafford County.

On June 16 at 12:57 p.m., Deputy A.W. Sypolt observed a vehicle run the red light as it made a right turn onto Kings Highway. Deputy Sypolt activated his vehicle’s emergency equipment to attempt to catch up to the vehicle. As he approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and began swerving around vehicles to elude the deputy. The pursuit continued onto Blue and Gray Parkway and was eventually terminated as Deputy Sypolt reached the county line. Upon further investigation, the driver was identified as Keyvon Smith, 26, of Woodbridge. Smith is wanted for felony eluding, reckless driving, and additional traffic offenses. He is also wanted for a CAPIAS for revocation of a suspended sentence for an underlying charge of robbery.
