A pursuit along Stafford roads Sunday evening ended with the suspect’s arrest for DUI in his own driveway.

On Sunday evening at 9:28 p.m., Deputy D.S. Jett observed a GMC truck travelling on Kings Highway weaving in the lane of travel. The truck turned on to Forest Lane Road and the tires briefly left the roadway before coming back on the road and crossing over the double yellow lines.

Deputy Jett initiated a traffic stop and the suspect decreased his speed, but did not stop. The pursuit continued to a left on Caisson Road and the suspect increased his speed and continued to veer into the oncoming lane of travel. Finally, after three miles, the suspect pulled into a driveway on Lorenzo Drive and surrendered.

The suspect was identified as Ricky Story, 63, of Stafford. Story had bloodshot eyes, was unsteady on his feet and had an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. Field sobriety tests were administered and he was arrested.

Story was charged with DUI, drinking while driving, eluding, and no operator’s license. He was held on a $2,000 unsecure bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

This was one of three DUI arrests that Deputy Jett made over the busy Easter weekend.
