A female suspect is in custody after she struck a male acquaintance with her vehicle and fled the scene.

On March 6 at 10 p.m., Deputy D.R. Ludolph responded to the Leeland Commuter Lot (275 Leeland Road) for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, Deputy Ludolph found a male victim with a severe leg injury.

The victim told the deputy he had arranged to meet-up with the suspect, Jennifer St. John, 30, of Fredericksburg, at the cul-de-sac on Granville Drive. When St. John arrived at the location she parked behind the victim’s truck. She then exited her vehicle and began striking the victim’s truck with a wooden bat. The victim got out of his vehicle and St. John ran back to her car and got in. St. John pulled out from behind his vehicle, accelerated, and drove towards the victim. The victim attempted to jump out of the path of her vehicle and fell to the ground. St. John drove over his legs and then fled the scene. The victim was able to drive to the Leeland Commuter Lot where he called for assistance. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Initial attempts to locate St. John were unsuccessful. On March 9, St. John was taken into custody for the charges of malicious wounding and destruction of property. She was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
