Yesterday, a vehicle pursuit ended safely with an arrest and multiple charges for the driver.

On January 12 at 3:39 p.m., Deputy W.J. Walker observed a vehicle driving at a high-rate of speed in the area of Warrenton Road and Stork Road. Deputy Walker activated his vehicle’s emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and made an abrupt U-turn on Warrenton Road in front of oncoming traffic. Deputy Walker pursued the vehicle as it made several U-turns on Warrenton Road before turning onto Stork Road.

While on Stork Road, the pursuit continued for several miles. The vehicle would repeatedly speed up and slow down. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 200 block of Spotted Tavern Road. The suspect, Emmanuel Navarro, 21, of Fredericksburg, was detained without incident.

After Navarro was detained, deputies were informed someone had recently called the Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle stolen. It was learned Navarro had taken the vehicle from a family member before leading deputies in the pursuit. The vehicle was later returned to the owner.

Navarro was arrested for eluding, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and reckless driving. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
