Deputies were assisted by the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team and K-9 in locating an assault suspect in Stafford last night.
On September 21st at approximately 10:09 p.m. deputies responded to a disturbance with a weapon on Pribble Lane. The suspect was identified as Dallas Cousins, 37, of Stafford. Deputy S.A. Fulford learned that Cousins had assaulted someone at the residence and fled into the nearby woods. Deputies were made aware that Cousins was intoxicated and possibly armed with a handgun.

The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team responded and used a drone to begin checking the wooded area. Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with a bloodhound to begin a track. At 11:34 p.m., Cousins was spotted by the drone walking along Little Whim Road. He was quickly taken into custody.

Cousins was charged with assault and battery and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 unsecure bond. No firearm was located. The Stafford Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the bloodhound.
