On August 11th, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a call for a fight in progress at the Red Roof Inn on Warrenton Road. Deputy S.C. Jett and Deputy T.A. Vasquez arrived to find an intoxicated female throwing a metal ashtray toward a car in the parking lot. As Deputy Jett attempted to take the female into custody, she grabbed onto his shirt and resisted the deputy.

After a brief struggle, the deputies were able to take the female into custody and identified her as Kashanna Clyburn Edwards, 19, of Stafford. While being taken to a patrol car, Edwards was able to escape from her handcuffs and they had to be reapplied. When she was placed in the rear caged area of the patrol car, Edwards kicked the door multiple times, causing significant damage to the window frame.

Edwards was charged with assault and battery on law enforcement, destruction of property, obstruction of justice, escape without force, public intoxication and underage possession of alcohol. She was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
