The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office would like to alert the community to a scam circulating in our community. We have received reports from residents who were contacted by scammers posing as pastors of their churches. The scammer then asks for a donation in the form of gift cards to support the church. Typically, after the victim provides the card information to the scammer, more money is requested.

Please be vigilant and call a trusted contact at your place of worship if you receive a suspicious request for money. Always be suspicious of callers who ask for payment in the form of gift cards.
