Stafford, VA. Two separate incidents of drivers fleeing from police of other jurisdictions recently led to significant crashes in Stafford County.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, a Toyota Tacoma passed a Fredericksburg Police Department Officer traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued along the Blue and Gray Parkway towards Stafford County. The Officer did not continue to pursue the suspect. At the intersection of Kings Highway, the Tacoma collided with two other vehicles, causing one of those vehicles to overturn. One driver was transported from the scene with minor injuries.

Zachary Ferguson, 27, of Stafford, was identified as the driver of the fleeing Tacoma. He was arrested by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office for DUI-third or subsequent offense, driving after forfeiture of license-second offense, DUI-driving with a revoked license, and failing to obey a traffic light. The Fredericksburg Police Department also obtained warrants for driving suspended and reckless driving by speed. Ferguson was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, an Officer with the Town of Dumfries Police Department attempted to stop a Mazda Navajo SUV near Graham Park Road and Old Triangle Road for not displaying a front license plate. The suspect vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The Officer continued to pursue the vehicle at speeds over 100 mph along I-95 South, until the vehicle exited onto Courthouse Road in Stafford County and crashed head on into another vehicle.

The fleeing driver was uninjured and his passenger was transported to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The female subject driving the car that was struck was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Roy Queen, 49, of Triangle, was charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, driving revoked, no liability insurance, and no registration. The Town of Dumfries Police Department also obtained warrants for felony eluding, reckless driving, driving revoked, and multiple traffic infractions. The suspect was incarcerated at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center without bond.
