Every day, our community members go out of their way to help their neighbors and keep us informed so that we can keep Stafford County safe.

That was certainly the case this morning when deputies were alerted to a missing person that suffers from dementia. As our K9 units, search and rescue personnel, and drone team were responding to the scene, an alert citizen contacted our office to report seeing a person in need of assistance at the Howell Library.

On behalf of Sheriff Decatur, we would like to thank Dyan Wright for her assistance. Thanks to her vigilance, the missing person was reunited with her family.
