Stafford, VA. A suspect was taken into custody early on Thursday morning by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office after he stole a vehicle from a Wawa parking lot while intoxicated.

On September 12, 2019, at approximately 1:52 a.m., Deputy Russo responded to the Wawa located at 105 Garrisonville Road for a report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, a male subject informed the deputy that he left his vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition while he went inside the store. When he returned, he saw an unknown subject driving away in his vehicle.

The deputy reviewed the store surveillance footage and observed the suspect enter the vehicle and drive off. Deputy Russo then observed the same subject in line inside the Wawa. When the deputy confronted the subject, he admitted to driving the vehicle. The deputy immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. In addition, the subject’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and his speech was slurred. Field sobriety tests were conducted and a breath test was administered.

The vehicle was located at the nearby Toyota dealership. The suspect was identified as Jeremy Dorsey, 30, of Woodbridge, VA. He was taken into custody and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3000.00 secured bond for driving under the influence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
