Stafford VA. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident that occurred yesterday morning at Stafford High School after a 26-year-old male subject rode a bus to the school and subsequently attempted to steal a food item in the cafeteria.

On August 15, 2019, before the first bell, School Resource Officer Melinda Warnick was patrolling the cafeteria of Stafford High School located at 63 Indians Lane when she was informed that a male subject had just stolen a bakery item from the cafe.

During the ensuing investigation, deputies learned the subject was not a student and he rode the school bus to get to the school that morning.

The 26-year-old subject was taken into custody and transported to Mary Washington Hospital for mental health treatment.

The incident serves as an important reminder that, “If you see something, say something.” The Stafford Sheriff’s Office stands ready to protect our students and will continue to provide guidance on school security issues.
