Stafford, VA. A wanted suspect was arrested early Saturday morning by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office following a pursuit.

On July 20, 2019, at approximately 12:16 a.m., Deputy Fulford observed a red Cadillac traveling on Kings Highway in the area of Cool Spring Road. The vehicle was swerving and crossed over the fog line multiple times. The deputy also observed the vehicle cross over the dotted white line into another lane of travel.

The deputy subsequently activated his emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle pulled over on River Road and came to a stop. As Deputy Fulford exited his vehicle, the suspect vehicle drove away at a high rate of speed. The deputy quickly returned to his vehicle and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit was terminated when the suspect vehicle crashed into a stop sign and fire hydrant in the area of King Street and Gordon Street. The driver fled on foot, but Deputy Fulford caught up to him and took the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as Scorpio Stevens, 23, of Fredericksburg. Deputy Fulford learned the suspect was wanted out of Norfolk on a probation violation.

The suspect was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the crash. He was subsequently incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. He is charged with felony eluding, fleeing from a law enforcement officer, hit and run, no driver’s license, expired registration, no insurance, and a traffic lane violation. He was also served his outstanding warrant.
