Stafford, VA. A suspect was arrested early Tuesday morning for driving under the influence after deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office observed her driving on the wrong side of the road.

On May 28, 2019, at approximately 1:46 a.m., Deputy Simpson was traveling southbound on Warrenton Road when he observed a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The deputy then turned his vehicle around and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as Jacqueline Fisher, 65, of Roanoke. She told the deputy she was unaware that she was driving on the wrong side of the road. The deputy also detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person. Her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and her speech slurred. She admitted to drinking earlier that evening.

Field sobriety tests were subsequently conducted and a preliminary breath test was administered. The suspect was taken into custody for driving under the influence and driving suspended. She was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
