Stafford, VA. A wanted suspect was arrested on Monday morning at Stafford Marketplace by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office after striking ten vehicles and climbing onto the roof of a Five Guys restaurant where he hid in an air conditioning unit.

On October 29, 2018, at approximately 9:58 a.m., deputies responded to reports of multiple vehicle accidents in the area of the Bank of America located at Stafford Marketplace. Upon arrival, deputies determined that the driver of a Ford pick-up truck hauling a trailer holding another pickup truck crashed into ten vehicles—four of which were occupied when struck. Both of the pick-up trucks later returned stolen. Four subjects were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After striking the vehicle, the intoxicated suspect fled on foot and scaled a metal pipe alongside a building and climbed onto the roof of Five Guys. Deputies found him hiding in an air conditioning unit on the roof and took him into custody. The suspect, identified as James Edward Baumann, Jr. 37, was wanted out of three jurisdictions—Stafford County, Prince William County, and Spotsylvania County.

The suspect was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond on his outstanding warrants. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
