Stafford, VA. A wanted suspect was taken into custody by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office following a two-hour long search on Sunday.

On October 7, 2018, at approximately 9:00 a.m., deputies received a phone call from a female subject who advised that a wanted person had been trespassing on her property located on Ebenezer Church Road. The wanted suspect was identified as Ziare Maurice Walker-Zalfoz, 18, of Stafford. He was wanted out of Stafford County on numerous offenses. On September 17, 2018, Walker-Zalfoz stole a vehicle and subsequently became involved in a pursuit with deputies following a traffic violation. He was not located following the incident.

The victim agreed to escort deputies to her house at 12:30 p.m. when she expected Walker-Zalfoz and a family member to be there. When deputies arrived, they could not locate the suspect. However, there was a plate of warm food on the counter.

Deputies began searching the area for the suspect and eventually Deputy Sypolt located Walker-Zalfoz and two other individuals on the east side of Garrisonville Road walking towards the Jessica Cheney Bridge. The deputy activated his emergency equipment and pulled onto the shoulder in front of the individuals, prompting Walker-Zalfoz to begin running in the opposite direction.

Approximately two hours later, Walker-Zalfoz was located in a garbage dumpster in the Garrison Woods neighborhood due to the tireless efforts of several deputies including Deputies Demirci, Flues, Floirendo, Sypolt, and Torrice.

Walker-Zalfoz was taken into custody and served his outstanding warrants for eluding police, grand larceny, reckless driving, hit and run, destruction of property, intentional damage to monument or memorial, driving without a license, and unlawful purchase of alcohol. He was then incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
