Stafford, VA. A traffic stop conducted by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office last week resulted in drug charges for the occupants of the vehicle.

On August 10, 2018, at approximately 8:36 p.m., Sgt. Kreider observed a silver vehicle with a defective brake light at the intersection of Warrenton Road and South Gateway Drive. He also noted that neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt.

Sgt. Kreider initiated a traffic stop on Warrenton Road at the ramp onto Interstate 95 Southbound. While approaching the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver was identified as Brandy Javoux Fitzgerald, 29, of Stafford and the passenger as David William Martin, Jr., 28, of Fredericksburg.

The suspects were subsequently detained. A search of Fitzgerald revealed several pills and a substance consistent with marijuana. A search of Martin’s person revealed white powdery residue on an object in his pocket. In addition, a search of the vehicle yielded several more pills in an envelope addressed to Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. He was released on personal recognizance for those charges as well as a summons for no seatbelt and defective equipment.

Martin was taken into custody and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance. He also received a summons for no seatbelt.
