Law Enforcement Torch Run to Pass through Stafford County

Stafford, VA. Each summer, law enforcement officials from across Virginia carry the Flame of Hope on a 1,900 mile journey to the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games Opening Ceremony in Richmond as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Virginia.

This year, the Torch will be handed off to members of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, June 8, 2018 at approximately 6 a.m. The Stafford portion of the run will begin just south of the intersection of Route 610 and Route 1. The Torch will be carried along Route 1 South and will be handed off in Fredericksburg at the Falmouth Bridge at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Citizens are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Torch runners as they travel along Route 1. Time and mileage are estimations, so please arrive early so you don’t miss the run. Motorists should be aware there will likely be traffic delays between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on June 8. Please plan ahead accordingly.
