The Stafford Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a photo disseminated via Snapchat which appeared to be targeting schools. Detectives immediately began an investigation with the help of citizens. The juvenile in the photo was identified and determined to be a Fredericksburg resident. Before detectives could make contact, the parents learned of the incident and immediately notified the Sheriff’s Office that they were bringing the juvenile in to speak with detectives. At this time, we do not believe the weapon in the photo is a real firearm. The investigation is ongoing and we do not believe there is a credible threat to students at this time.
