Stafford, VA. Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect on Friday following a pursuit in the area of Ridgecrest Court in Stafford.

On January 26, 2018 at approximately 10:58 p.m., a deputy on patrol in the area of Greenspring Drive observed a gray sedan traveling with no working headlights. Deputy W.C. Betush activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed onto Ridgecrest Court where the deputy observed the suspect nearly crash into another vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect’s vehicle skidded to a halt and the suspect fled on foot. The deputy gave chase and was able to take him into custody after the suspect slipped on a hill in the area of Providence Street.

Deputy L.A. Burgess found white powder and a substance consistent with marijuana in the suspect’s pockets subsequent to arrest. In addition, multiple pills were found in the vehicle. The suspect, identified as Jason Robert Dehn, 35, of Stafford, confirmed the green leafy substance was marijuana.

Dehn told deputies that he fled from law enforcement because his wife and two-year-old child were in the car and they have a protective order against him.

Dehn was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail and is charged with obstructing justice, possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, possession of controlled substances, eluding police, driving without headlights, abuse and neglect of children, and violation of a protective order.
