Stafford, VA. Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect last month after a long-time investigation involving drug distribution charges.

On November 14, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Deputy Joshua Scott of the Special Problems Unit along with the Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of 3619 Jefferson Davis Highway.

The driver of the vehicle, Billy Washington, 52, was wanted on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Washington also did not have a driver’s license.

Detectives found a large amount of cash and a substance consistent with crack cocaine in the suspect’s vehicle. Additional items related to the investigation were later uncovered at the suspect’s residence. The suspect admitted to selling crack cocaine.

Washington was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. The suspect was served the outstanding warrants and received another charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and driving after being a habitual offender.
