The Stafford Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an auto accident that occurred on Saturday resulting in the death of a 21-year-old female.

On Saturday, August 12, 2017 at approximately 11:45 a.m. deputies from the Stafford Sheriff’s Office along with Fire and Rescue responded to a report of an auto accident along the 2000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. Deputies arrived on scene to find three vehicles involved in the accident.

The preliminary investigation lead by Deputy J.P. Aubry indicates that a red Nissan Sentra was traveling north along Jefferson Davis Highway and crossed the double yellow line striking a white Ford Ranger head on. A third vehicle subsequently struck the rear of the Ford Ranger. The driver of the Ford Ranger, as well as the driver of the third vehicle, were uninjured. The driver of the Nissan Sentra was found trapped in the vehicle suffering life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra was identified as Gloria Gerungan, age 21 of Stafford County. Ms. Gerungan was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Mary Washington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Ms. Gerungan was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
