On March 3, 2017, at approximately 1:37 PM a Stafford County Medical Transport Unit witnessed a reckless driver on Warrenton Road near Olde Forge Drive and reported it to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy C.D. Brown responded and observed a maroon Cadillac, traveling northbound in the area of Plantation Drive, failing to maintain the proper lane. Deputy Brown activated his emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The male driver of the Cadillac initially slowed and moved toward the left side of the roadway, but then pulled back into traffic and continued traveling northbound. The vehicle sustained the same rate of speed never attempting to elude law enforcement. Deputy Brown continued to pursue the driver and observed him disregard a red light and almost cause a collision. Additional patrol units responded, as did the Virginia State Police. Sergeant W.J. Walker pulled in front of the Cadillac to initiate a rolling roadblock, but then the vehicle came to a stop.

The driver, an elderly man, was experiencing a medical emergency. He was transported to the hospital where it was confirmed that he suffered from diabetes and had an excessively high fever. No charges were filed.
