Special Event Informational Package & Application

The Sheriff's Special Star Force (SSSF) Program was established in 2007 to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to experience the various duties of a law enforcement officer.

Many citizens with intellectual disabilities dream of this type of work.  The SSSF Program allows one the opportunity to experience their dream as closely as possible without being in harm's way.

The SSSF Program is intended to be both educational and community service based.  The SSSF Cadet will learn about law enforcement and community policing through interactive instruction and presentations.

The goal of the program is to enhance the relationship between citizens with intellectual disabilities and the law enforcement community.

Activities include

The special cadet of the Sheriff's Special Star Force (SSSF) will learn various aspects of law enforcement and community policing through interactive instruction and presentations.

Development

The SSSF meets monthly for an activity that will cover a variety of law enforcement responsibilities such as Traffic Safety, Special Operations, Crime Scene Investigation, Community Relations, Rules and Responsibilities of a Law Enforcement Officer and many other topics.  An atmosphere of encouragement, family and teamwork will be reinforced at every meeting.

Community Service

The SSSF Cadet will learn the importance of community service.  You may see the Star Force Cadet in the Stafford community, side-by-side with deputies or at various public events.

Fun

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office wants each cadet to grow with the program and to have fun while doing so.  The combination of learning and having fun increases the benefits a Star Force Cadet receives from participating in the program.
