The Stafford Sheriff’s Office responded to a potential drowning on the Rappahannock River in the area between the Historic Port of Falmouth and Old Mill Park at approximately 6:15 p.m. today.

The body of an unconscious man was retrieved from the river by a recovery team and transported to Mary Washington Hospital. His condition is unknown.
