The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of Brian Richardson, age 24, of Woodbridge, Virginia. Richardson is facing charges of Brandishing, Felony Eluding and Possession of Marijuana after leading authorities on a pursuit that initiated in Stafford County and ended up in Spotsylvania County.

At approximately 12:40 this afternoon, Friday, October 23, 2015 the Emergency Communications Center in Stafford County received a 9-1-1 call from a motorist on I-95 south telling the Communications Officer that another motorist had brandished a hand gun at him while on I-95 south at the 140 mile marker. The subject, later determined to be Brian Richardson, was located on I-95 south at the 137 mile marker by Stafford deputies. Initially Richardson appeared to be pulling over to the right shoulder but then sped off southbound on I-95. Stafford deputies joined by the Virginia State Police continued the pursuit. As the pursuit continued on I-95 it was clear that there was a female passenger in the vehicle, who at times, appeared to be struggling with Richardson. Richardson, while driving erratically, was also holding a gun to his head. The pursuit continued off of I-95 south to Route 3 west in Spotsylvania County, then onto Fall Hill Avenue and then onto River Road west bound.

At the 5000 block of River Road law enforcement authorities attempted to force Richardson’s car off the road but Richardson’s car spun around, hit a tree, and then continued west bound on River Road. At the 6000 block of River Road Richardson’s car hit a tree and stopped.

Brian Richardson was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure and will then be taken to the Magistrate’s Office in Stafford County to be formally charged. The female passenger was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. Once checked out she will be released with no charges.

The gun that Richardson was brandishing was a pellet gun. However, a 45 hand gun was also located in the vehicle, stolen out of Prince William County. Brian Richardson was also in possession of Marijuana.

This is in the early stages of the investigation and additional information is not available at this time.
