| Public invited to “Pardon Our Dust” meeting on Tuesday, December 2 in Fredericksburg
FREDERICKSBURG – Construction work is scheduled to begin in January 2015 on a two-year project to widen Fall Hill Avenue in the City of Fredericksburg between Central Park and the Rappahannock Canal bridge.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a “Pardon Our Dust” pre-construction meeting on the project at the following time and location:

A brief presentation will be delivered at 5:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to meet the construction team, ask questions, view project plans and learn about upcoming traffic impacts.
Fall Hill Avenue will remain open to traffic during the project, with periodic lane closures.
VDOT awarded a $30.7 million design-build contract to widen Fall Hill Avenue in April 2014 to Corman Construction, Inc., and Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP.
Fall Hill Avenue will be widened to four lanes with a raised median from Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park) to just west of the bridge over the Rappahannock Canal.
In addition, the project will extend Mary Washington Boulevard from the hospital campus to intersect with Fall Hill Avenue in a roundabout, which will provide a new connection between Route 1 and Fall Hill Avenue.
The Fall Hill Avenue bridge over Interstate 95 will be replaced with a four-lane bridge to include a shared-use path on the north side and a sidewalk on the south side.
Fall Hill Avenue carries approximately 17,200 vehicles per day, and the number of vehicles is expected to double in the next 20 years.
