Left lane remains open, but motorists should expect delays at Stafford, Fredericksburg line

FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed the northbound right lane of Route 1 in Stafford County from the Falmouth Bridge to the intersection of Route 17 Business and Route 218 (Butler Road) for emergency repairs to a drainage structure beneath the road.

The right lane is expected to remain closed until midday. The left lane remains open, but motorists should anticipate delays on Route 1 northbound near the Stafford County and City of Fredericksburg line.

VDOT will make repairs this morning to a concrete drop inlet, which channels stormwater to a drainage pipe beneath the road.
