FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists may encounter brief delays over the next two weeks on Route 631 (Coal Landing Road) in Stafford County, in the vicinity of Greenridge Drive. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in the work zone between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, Monday-Saturday. The project is scheduled to end on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is stabilizing an embankment along Coal Landing Road, and re-paving a portion of the road. Specialized equipment, a soil nail launcher, will create a retaining wall by drilling holes beneath the roadway, and inserting steel rods into the ground. The rods are covered with a mesh wire net and anchored with bolts. The entire surface is then covered with shotcrete, a concrete material. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. This work has been scheduled weather permitting, and inclement weather may extend the project schedule beyond Feb. 22. Real-time listings of work zones, traffic incidents and travel times in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia. |
