Stafford County

Bridge Inspections
(Update) Crews will be conducting routine bridge safety inspections throughout the area. Motorists should expect lane closures at the following locations this week:

Monday- Friday
• Chatham Bridge (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.); motorists will be restricted to one lane in
each direction on the Chatham Bridge located on Route 3 (King’s Hwy.)
between Sophia Street and River Road. between

Monday – Tuesday
• Interstate 95 (9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.); one lane will be closed on I-95 south at
the bridge over the Rappahannock River located just south of Exit 133 (Rt.
17/Falmouth).

Tuesday – Thursday
• Interstate 95 (9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.); one lane will be closed on I-95 north
at the bridge over the Rappahannock River located just south of Exit 133
(Rt. 17/Falmouth).

Route 684 (Staffordboro Boulevard)
(Update) Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 two lanes of northbound Staffordboro Boulevard will be closed from Stafford Marketplace to north of Woodstream Boulevard for paving work. The Staffordboro Boulevard entrance to Stafford Marketplace will remain open. This paving work is part of the Commuter Lot Expansion project that will add nearly 1,000 new commuter parking spaces in the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride lot. All lanes will be open on Staffordboro Boulevard at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.

Caroline County

Route 639 (Ladysmith Road)
(New) Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.; crews will be paving and striping a portion of Route 639 between the I-95 interchange at Exit 110 (Route 639/Ladysmith) and 500 feet west of the Exxon gas station. Motorists may be restricted at times to one lane in the work zone, and may experience minor delays. The paving and striping work is being performed under permit for construction of a McDonald’s restaurant.

King George County

Route 665
(Update) Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; crews will be milling and paving on the westbound side of Route 665 between Route 3 and Route 605 (Bloomsbury Road). Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Under Construction

Stafford County

Route 17
Route 17 is being widening from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The speed limit is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph on northbound and southbound Route 17 between Cardinal Forest Drive and International Parkway. Motorists should be alert for periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.

Route 1 Bridge over Aquia Creek
Crews are replacing the Route 1 bridge at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone and periodic lane closures. Estimated completion date is August 2015.

Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17/Route 218)
Utility relocation work is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Construction work will begin in early 2014.

Route 218 (Chatham Heights Road)
A sidewalk construction project is underway the westbound side of Chatham Heights Road and along Castle Rock Drive between the WaWa and Castle Rock Drive. Motorists will be restricted on one lane in the work zone between 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project completion date is November 2013.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1115 (Maple Grove Drive)
Motorists are reminded that a 24-hour work zone is in place on Maple Grove Drive. Crews are replacing a culvert on Maple Grove Drive that currently has a 20-ton weight restriction. Once the culvert is replaced, the weight restriction will be lifted. During the project, motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone. Traffic will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal.
