LEFT TURN LANE CLOSURES SATURDAY ON ROUTE 17
Repairs planned for temporary traffic signal at Berea Church Road/Banks Ford Parkway intersection in Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG – The left turn lanes on northbound and southbound Route 17 will be closed from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Berea Church Road/Banks Ford Parkway intersection.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be repairing a temporary traffic signal at the intersection. A truck damaged the signal's guy wire on Friday afternoon.

Northbound motorists and southbound motorists on Route 17 will not be allowed to turn left onto Berea Church Road or Banks Ford Parkway during the work zone. Motorists should make a U-turn at the next available traffic signal, and proceed north or south on Route 17 to reach their destination.

The temporary traffic signal was installed in connection with the Route 17 widening project. In June, the VDOT started a $48.9 million project to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT's 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
