LANE CLOSURES THURSDAY NIGHT
ON NORTHBOUND ROUTE 17 IN STAFFORD
Left turn lane, left lane closure between Celebrate Virginia Parkway and Stafford Lakes Parkway

FREDERICKSBURG – The left turn lane and left travel lane of northbound Route 17 will be closed overnight Thursday, August 1 between Celebrate Virginia Parkway and Stafford Lakes Parkway in Stafford County.

The lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5:30 a.m. Friday, August 2.

Northbound motorists will not be allowed to turn left at Banks Ford Parkway or Stafford Lakes Parkway during the lane closure. Motorists should make a U-turn at the traffic signal at University Boulevard, and proceed south on Route 17 to reach their destination.

Workers will be paving temporary travel lanes in the median of northbound Route 17 for an upcoming traffic shift associated with the Route 17 widening project.

In June, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) started a $48.9 million project to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles.

Click Here for more information on the Route 17 Widening Project. The project will be completed by December 1, 2016.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT's 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
