CONSTRUCTION TO AFFECT PARK & RIDE LOT AT ROUTE 610
Approximately 100 spaces will be blocked from the evening of Thursday, Aug.1 through Sunday, Aug. 4

FREDERICKSBURG – Construction work will block approximately 100 parking spaces in the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride lot in Stafford County from the evening of Thursday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 4.

Cones will block the affected parking spaces starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. Motorists are requested to avoid parking overnight Thursday and all day Friday-Sunday in the southwest corner of the lot.

Work will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. VDOT is delaying the work until after the morning rush hour to avoid interference with ridesharing activities.

All spaces will be re-opened before rush hour on Monday, Aug. 5.

There are approximately 850 parking spaces in the Staffordboro lot. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has monitored parking capacity in the lot, and selected Friday as the weekday least likely to affect commuter parking due to the temporary loss of spaces.

Construction work began in May to add nearly 1,000 new commuter parking spaces to the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride lot, which will double the capacity of this commuter facility in the Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) corridor. Construction of the $12.9 million improvement project is scheduled to take 16 months, and will open to users in October 2014.
