April 6, 2017

On April 5, 2017, at approximately 9:05 PM, Deputy S.A. Fulford responded to a hit and run that had just occurred in the area of Mine Road and Greenspring Drive. The complainant advised that he was attempting to repossess a white Nissan pickup when the registered owner of the vehicle entered the vehicle and drove it off his tow truck, onto the sidewalk, and away from where it was located on Tolbelt Court. The driver of the Nissan, later identified as David Schneider, drove toward Interstate 95 while the tow truck driver called the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident and then pursued him as he continued southbound on the interstate.

Mr. Schneider exited the interstate and continued westbound on Courthouse Road where he was intercepted by First Sergeant D.F. Purcell and Deputy J.J. Brunofski. The patrol units conducted a traffic stop in the area of Colonial Forge High School.

Both subjects involved in the incident were interviewed, and damage to both vehicles was observed. The driver of the Nissan pickup, David J. Schneider, age 35 of Whitestone, VA, was charged with Reckless Driving and Hit and Run.
